★★★★★5 months agoI really enjoyed this museum. Suriname has a fascinating and multi-faceted story that is well explained in this museum. Any questions you may have, if they weren't already answered by the many detailed and well-worded exhibits, are answered by very friendly staff, many of whom are Surinamese or have close ties to the country. I highly recommend visiting this museum. Cost in Q1 2026 was 17,50 euro, museum card is not accepted (but might be accepted in the future).

★★★★★2 months agoThis is my new favorite museum! Very informative and well-curated presentation of the history of Suriname, which is fascinating. They explicitly convey the brutality of colonial violence (far better than most major museums), chronicle specific stories of resistance, and thoroughly describe the origins of the many ethnic groups in Suriname, including the indigenous people. They also currently have a cool exhibit at the end on the colonial history of other African diasporic countries. Super English friendly, highly recommend for tourists! Also the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Can’t recommend enough!!
