Iconic architectural element of Bologna's identity. I was not prepared how many and long and beautiful the portici are and each with its own terrazzo, column design and funtions on the ground level. Now I cannot imagine the city without them.

The porticos of Bologna are beautiful nearly every street seems to have one and they vary greatly. Great for rain and hot sun and a brilliant spot for a cool drink. Brilliant architecture and seem very unique to italy and worth wandering the streets of Bologna to discover.
