★★★★★a month agoGuys, I'm writing this for those who, like me, end up even more confused after reading the reviews—half the people love this place, the other half criticize it. Here's my impression: it's a stunning, romantic, slightly overgrown garden spread across a huge area. Be prepared to walk a lot, so allow at least two hours for your visit. Definitely take a break at the Tea House garden café and enjoy the view over the golf course. The atmosphere gave me the same feeling I only experienced before in Cape Town, South Africa. That said, I have to be honest: this is not a typical tourist attraction, and I do think the entrance fee is overpriced. If you only have a short time in Funchal, you might be better off choosing another garden. But honestly, this ended up being my favorite place, and I don't regret spending the money at all.

★★★★★2 months agoIf someone has time enough (and a rented car) it's absolutely worth to go there. Calmer, maybe nicer than the two other, maybe more famous gardens of Funchal. We loved the quiet, sleepy athmosphere, the harmony between the trees, flowers, shrubs and the buildings, like a little chapel and a tea-house. You may spend there 1.5 - 2 happy hours, at least. Parking is possible near to the entrance, and as the park is less visited, you may find there free places.
