Always check the tides, that way there will be something to see! We went at sunset, but dawn would be better as the light has a wonderful quality. As we were there in the evening all the locals were on the beach which added to the atmosphere significantly. The sand is soft and potentially dangerous, don't walk out to the far figures - I only went onto the edges of the wet sand and could feel my feet sinking! Absolutely loved our visit. Free to visit.

Skies that go on forever and the best Waterloo Sunsets. There was a lovely cool breeze on such a hot day when we last visited. You can't swim here as it has a red flag. Watch out for patches sinking sand/mud. Follow the beach safety notices and you should be fine.
