We really enjoyed the Whistler exhibition. The beauty of such exhibitions is the chance to see various works brought together temporarily in one location. You get a sense then of the range of works of an artist and their progression. Some of Whistler’s portraits are well known but the range of styles and techniques was a revelation. Really well laid out, you learnt a lot about his life and personality, not just his art.

Tate Britain showcases the full spectrum of British art. Admission is free, and no advance booking is required. I came for the Pre-Raphaelites, but there is so much more to discover here. The way the works are displayed in some of the galleries can be overwhelming, but the atmosphere is calm and there are plenty of places to sit. I spend my break in the lovely Djanogly CafΓ© with a delicious carrot cake and an excellent coffee. Atmosphere: 5 stars Museum education / digital learning: 3 stars Recommended duration of visit: 3–4 hours Likelihood of returning: 5 stars Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
