La Boule des Vents is not a destination. It is a condition — the condition of being Marseillais. The Ricard arrives without ceremony, the boules click with conviction, and the accent, mon Dieu, the accent is so thick and proud it could stop a mistral. Everyone is friendly. Everything is affordable. No one is performing. Paris has many things. This, it does not have. Five stars — not for ambition, but for something rarer: being entirely, unapologetically itself.
