An incredible hidden gem in the heart of Naples! It is peaceful, grand and full of art and history. This church and monastery are wonderful monuments of medieval culture and architecture. There are many splendid tombs of the local aristocracy. It is said that even Vlad Tepes - Count Dracula, the Wallachian leader of the Christian fight against the Ottoman Empire, is buried here. It is definitely worth a visit!

I stumbled on this church because it was the place where the tomb of Vlav the Impaler was discovered. This is one of the most beautiful churches in Naples. The floors, the frescos, the ceiling covered in real gold, the quiet cloister, and the beautiful tombs and mausoleums within the church make this monumental complex more than a mere church. The story of how Vlav the Impaler arrived at this church is also very interesting, and it is told by a video played by the tomb. It seems that his daughter Maria played a huge part in having him buried in Naples. You must listen to the video yourself! The church is very well kept and it has bathrooms. I definitely recommend it!
