Lovely museum, full of Matisses work & life story. Its located in a park & right next to the Archeological Museum. We bought a Museum Pass ticket (15 euros) on entry which gives free access to all the Nice museums including this one. Easy to get to on the route 5 bus.

A visit to the Musée Matisse in Nice is a quiet, powerful and unforgettable experience. One immediately realizes that this place is far more than a museum – it is a space of cultural depth, clarity and inspiration. I love Henri Matisse. His art has accompanied me for many years, and it touches me anew every single time. Henri Matisse (1869–1954) spent formative years of his life in Nice, where light, color and simplicity became the core of his artistic language. This connection can be felt here in a deeply impressive way. The exhibition is exceptionally well structured and clearly curated. Works, sketches, cut-outs, sculptures and documents are presented in a coherent and accessible manner, allowing visitors to understand Matisse both as an artist and as a human being. The lighting of the artworks is remarkably well executed: calm, precise and respectful. Nothing dazzles, nothing distracts – the art remains at the center. The educational approach is particularly convincing. The information is clear, well balanced and very thoughtfully prepared. Both connoisseurs and visitors who may be discovering Matisse for the first time will find an excellent and welcoming access to his work, his thinking and his artistic development. The attitude of the staff also deserves special mention. Friendly, discreet and attentive, they accompany the visit without ever intruding. One feels welcome, respected and free – exactly as suits this place. The museum itself radiates calm. It invites visitors to slow down, to take their time and to truly look. The visit feels less like a conventional museum tour and more like a conscious immersion into the world of an artist who transformed color, form and simplicity into a unique visual language. The Musée Matisse is clearly a true asset for Nice. The city can be proud of this place, where art is not loudly staged, but allowed to unfold quietly, clearly and profoundly. I recommend the Musée Matisse with the deepest conviction. Anyone visiting Nice should absolutely take the time to experience this special place. Avec vous · Avec passion · Avec Éric
