★★★★★5 months agoStopped by Palais-Royal while in the area and was glad I did, even though I didn’t have as much time to linger as I would have liked. The contrast between the classical arcades and the black-and-white column installation by Daniel Buren is striking in person. The space feels composed but playful — kids climbing the columns, people sitting along the edges, light moving across the courtyard. The gardens on the other side are equally worth a walk through. It’s a rare example of historic architecture and contemporary art sharing the same space without tension. If you’re nearby, it’s absolutely worth stopping to see it for yourself, even briefly.

★★★★★7 months agoThe Palais Royal complex was originally built in the 1630s for Cardinal Richelieu and later became a royal residence... The black and white striped pillars of varying heights were reportedly created by artist Daniel Buren around 1986. It was a very interesting place, and many people were filming with familiar concepts. I recommend you visit it.
