  Best museum in Singapore. Throwback to when museums and pop-science wasn't completely dumbed down to the point of being insulting. Took a guided tour with Lai - he was AWESOME. Best guide ever, extremely knowledgeable without being preachy, also very sociable and tried to draw several kids who were running around into the material. Lai posed several questions to them conversationally, and they impressed me at least with their knowledge. Damn, kids are smart nowadays. Compares exceptionally well to the dinosaur exhibition at the SDC, which I'd attended a few weeks ago. That one was full of kids who were only tangentially interested in the material. Granted, this was because the materials there were really sparse and artificial looking (cuz they were fake). The historical specimens from British naturalist traditions handed down were impressive and well preserved, and the context in which they were gathered and preserved as well as the history surrounding them as well. Also, the real fossils were impressive to look at, among them a nameless cadaver donated from St. Anthony's, orang utans, as well as plenty of taxidermied specimens. Also impressive was the exhibit detailing Wallace's voyages, and that of the museum itself. My partner and I were also wowed by the diplodocid skeletons (hi, Twinky, you're amazing ❤️), the 'proposed' dinosaur footprint fossil found locally, and the database of local and invasive species found in the museum. I know I'll be using that extensively in future! Would love to return again. A single visit is not enough to digest all this fascinating history and data and tradition! Would love to meet Lai again, and the other volunteers who help make LKC Natural History Museum such an amazing place. (shoutout to the sperm whale retrieval volunteers)

  I honestly think the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is one of Singapore's most underrated gems! ​My kids were absolutely blown away by the real dinosaur fossils (Prince, Apollonia, and Twinky!). The museum is beautifully laid out with a great mix of prehistoric history and well-documented Southeast Asian wildlife specimens. It’s fascinating to see so much local biodiversity on display. ​It’s very interactive and kid-friendly—perfect for my two primary schoolers who stayed engaged the whole time. Best of all, it wasn't crowded at all, making it a peaceful and educational experience for the whole family. Highly recommended!
