An interesting and memorable structure in Basel. Spalentor is one of the city’s best-preserved medieval gates and it really stands out in person — the massive stonework, the central tower, and the two round side towers make it feel like you’re walking into a different century. It’s worth coming up close to see the details on the façade, and it’s also a great photo stop because it looks impressive from almost any angle. If you’re exploring the Old Town, this is an easy place to add to your walk and one of those landmarks that actually feels special, not just “something to tick off.”

Awesome old tower. No fees, no tours but put it on your walking path near Old Town Basel. Just off the 30 bus line.
