I really enjoyed the Stasi Museum. The middle floor that is more frozen in time was an amazing experience for a fan of period design. I also really enjoyed the insights into surveillance tactics. One of my favorite visits during my time in Berlin. It’s not included with the Museumspass Berlin, but it was worth the additional 12 euros.

In this museum, I saw, heard, read, and learned a great deal about the paranoid and bizarrely well-conceived Stasi organization. Extensive source material on its origins, operations, and impact on the DDR society has helped me understand their reality. A reality that feels both distant and surprisingly close. Because the museum is housed in the Stasi HQ itself and the minister's rooms are there still as original as possible, this enhances the immersiveness. It was definitely worth my visit!
