★★★★★a month agoVery well laid out and presented museum. You get a real feeling for what it must have been like. There are some of the old passport / security cubicles you can go through. Quite a disturbing experience. Good description (with modules of the building) of how the east and west passengers were kept separate in the main station. Staff were pleasant and descriptions were in German and English (appreciated!).

★★★★★Edited 2 months agoA profound and deeply somber experience. The Tränenpalast offers an excellent perspective on how the East German regime oppressed its own people. The preserved border checkpoints and original passport control booths capture the cold, bureaucratic intimidation of the German division. I felt the immense weight of history through the tragic stories of separated families, forced goodbyes, and failed escapes. The exhibition perfectly illustrates the devastating human cost of a totalitarian state. Anyone visiting Berlin should see this powerful reminder of the value of freedom.
