Spent about 3.5 hours here and it was totally worth it — entry is just 10 yuan! If you're a foreigner, make sure to bring your passport or ID to get in. The museum is pretty big, with everything from dinosaur fossils and Bronze Age artifacts to beautiful treasures from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Super easy to get to — just take the subway APM line to Huacheng Dadao Station, Exit B. It's on the same side as K11 Mall and right next to the Guangzhou Library.

The Guangzhou Museum started in 1959 and moved to its huge new building in New Town in 2010. It had a fairly eclectic collection, including impressive carvings. And far less impressive taxidermy. My favourites were the atmospheric ocean and dinosaur areas. And the temporary Lacquerware exhibition. Free entry but must organise tickets online in advance, which can be done through the WeChat app
