The Hanoi Flag Tower sits beside the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel. It is a unique landmark in Vietnamese history. It is not only a tower, but also a historic war monument. It was used as a military post during the French period and later became a famous symbol connected to Vietnamese independence from France. It is especially meaningful because of its connection to important historical moments in 1945 and 1954. We really enjoyed learning about its history. Beside the Flag Tower, there is also a building where you can watch a video and learn more about its historical background. Overall, it is a meaningful place to visit if you are interested in Vietnamese history.
