★★★★★2 months agoAlter Markt is one of the most atmospheric squares in Cologne’s Old Town and a great place to feel the city’s historic character. As one of Cologne’s traditional market squares, it has long been a central meeting point in the Altstadt. Today, the square is surrounded by colorful façades, cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs, making it lively but still very pleasant to walk around. Its location is perfect for visiting together with the Historic City Hall, Great St. Martin, the Rhine and Cologne Cathedral. Especially in summer, the outdoor seating gives the square a very nice local feeling, while in winter it becomes even more charming with the Christmas market.
