★★★★★Edited 8 months agoWarm, friendly people. Great City. Liver birds: Royal Liver Building, Liverpool, England. The two Liver birds are 5.5 m (18 ft) tall. A mythical bird the symbol of Liverpool. Represented as a Cormorant, it bears a branch of laver seaweed in its beak as a further pun on the name “Liverpool” Opened in 1911. The Liver building was built for the Royal Liver Assurance group, which had been set-up in the city of Liverpool 1850, to provide local people with assistance relating to losing a wage-earning relative.
