This dam is a unique historical landmark located in the heart of Lucerne. Built in the 19th century, it controls the water level of Lake Lucerne using traditional wooden needles, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into ancient engineering techniques still in use today. The area provides stunning views of the Reuss River, the Church Bridge, and the surrounding Old Town. It's a tranquil spot for taking photos, enjoying a meal, listening to the sound of flowing water, and discovering a special part of Lucerne's heritage. A visit is definitely worthwhile.

Quintessential Lucerne outdoor attraction on par with Chapel Bridge, needle dam on Reuss River is a wooden structure designed to regulate water level of Lake Lucerne by manually adjusting wooden planks. Probably one of the few operational needle dams in the world. There is some magic in the flowing water that draws so many visitors to the place.
