Animals like the harpy, the Mishmi takins, the mossy frogs and the blue tree monitor are endangered species and not easily found in other European zoos. The habitats are intricately conceived to resemble the natural spaces of animals and meet their needs and preferences. Wandering across the vast landscape zoo is simply one of the most entertaining and informative adventures Nuremberg offers.

This place is really huge, thus near the entrance they offer luggage carts (5 euro), in which you can even pull a kid or two, because they will get tired eventually. At the far side there is a petting zoo area with small goats to mingle with. The inner small cafeterias and restaurants are more on the expensive side, but there are many resting areas with tables and benches, so many locals bring food and enjoy quiet time in the forest.
