This museum is wonderful for delving into Chinese history. There's no need for advance tickets, which makes visiting very convenient. With so many exhibitions spread across multiple floors, I recommend visiting twice to fully take everything in. They also have interactive displays with large touchscreens, which are great. Some exhibitions may be packed due to school expeditions.

This museum is huge, I spent over five hours in this museum. On their website it says a reservation is not required (you just need to bring a valid ID), but it's easy and free so I still recommend making a reservation for a time slot that suits you. The Chinese Painting Gallery was the absolute highlight for me, I adore the traditional landscape and nature paintings. The Chinese Calligraphy Gallery is very nice as well, I just feel like I would've liked it even more if I had more knowledge of the Chinese language. The other galleries/exhibitions like the seal and numismatics gallery are very informative, and it's nice some find some Dutch history as well in the ceramics gallery.
