Amazing views over the harbour worth the visit just for that, but even more worth it to wander around the various different sections to go through the timeliness of Malta, various audio visual sections covering from the earliest recorded evidence to the present day. You will need a couple of hours to go through the entire exhibit.

The War Museum in Fort St. Elmo is very good at describing the history prior to, during the 1565 siege and later "occupations". The description are detailed and the exhibits are engaging if maybe a bit too loud. The fort itself was a bit of a disappointment as we expected something like Fort St. Angelo. It was hard to get the true feel of the fort (maybe we missed a part?). We had a Heritage Malta card and it was simple to enter. Recommend both the card and the War Museum in Fort St. Elmo.
