We arrived at the bus terminal, and the first thing we saw of Venice’s old town was from this bridge – and it was just: wow. The view from here gives you a fantastic first impression of the city. You get a great overview of the canals, the buildings, and the atmosphere that makes Venice so unique. It really sets the tone for what’s to come. In our opinion, it’s one of the top bridges in the city – and surprisingly, it’s not overcrowded, so it’s also a great spot to take your first photos without being pushed around by the crowd. Highly recommended as your first stop when entering Venice!

This bridge is the ultimate paradox of Venice: hated by the locals, yet endlessly photographed by tourists. And honestly, I can see both sides. For visitors, it's a dream come true. It offers one of the best photo opportunities over the Grand Canal—the views are simply spectacular, especially at sunset. The bridge is wide enough that you can stop, take your time framing the perfect shot, and not block the flow of pedestrians behind you. It feels designed with photographers in mind. But here's the catch. The moment you actually try to walk on it, you understand why Venetians roll their eyes. The glass sections—which look so sleek and modern in photos—become treacherously slippery when it rains. I'm talking ice-rink slippery. Despite repeated maintenance efforts (you can see they've tried to treat the surface), it remains a hazard. I saw at least two people lose their footing during my visit. You really have to watch your step. Oh, and one more thing most people miss: don't forget to look up from underneath. The underside of the bridge has a fascinating architectural structure, with its curved steel ribs and glass panels. It's almost like looking at the skeleton of a whale. Worth a moment of your time if you're passing by on a boat. So, in short: come for the photos, enjoy the view, but bring your most grippy shoes—and pray it doesn't rain.
