★★★★★a month agoVienna City Hall is impressive not because it’s extravagant, but because it still feels like a living institution rather than a museum. The grand ceremonial halls, vaulted corridors and beautifully preserved council chamber make it easy to appreciate both the architecture and the city’s civic history. If you have the chance to join a guided tour, it’s well worth it, as many of the most remarkable interiors are only accessible that way. A fascinating place where history, politics and craftsmanship come together.

★★★★★3 weeks agoBeautiful architecture, but requires some advance planning! Free tickets to see the inside need to be booked at least two weeks in advance, and tours aren't available on weekends. If you visit during the summer, note that the outdoor film festival setup (which kicks off around 6:00 p.m.) places a huge screen right in front of the building, which obstructs full photos of the facade. There is also a seasonal cafe inside. Still worth stopping by, especially if you want to catch an outdoor movie.
