Lucian Marin
★★★★★8 months agoIt's located at the eastern end of Schönbrunn’s Great Parterre, and I have to say, it's so much more impressive in real life. At the base of it, you'll see the four river gods representing the major rivers of the Habsburg lands — the Danube, Elbe, Vltava, and Inn, while at the center, a giant obelisk stands tall. It's adorned with hieroglyph-like inscriptions, marking Empress Maria Theresa and her son, Joseph II. The fountain spring is turned off during winter, and while the bleak, dreary landscape makes for a less cheerful mood, it's still an astonishing view. I recommend you stray off from the center path and go see it.

★★★★★3 years agoA beautiful fountain with a lot of symbolic meaning. Make sure to download the application for the palace to learn more about this. For example the obelisk that's carried by 4 tortoises, it stand for stability. Also it'll give you information about the runes, it'll suprise you. Definitely recommended!
