★★★★★a year agoIf you visit the castle and look over the wall, you’re more than likely to see this amazing fountain down below. I recommend that you see it from both vantage points. Go to the fountain and look up at the beauty of the castle. Then go up to the castle and look down at the beauty of the park and the fountain. If the weather is good, the park is a perfect place to just sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty and splendor that Edinburgh has to offer.

★★★★★6 months agoThe most dramatic view of the Castle, for sure - not the most ‘Castly’ appearance, it looks more like a French Bastide town from here than a castle (which is really on the other side of the volcanic plug - but it’s at its most perched here, ad the surroundings are nice. For a fuller view, I recommend going to Calton Hill. It’s further away (other end of Princes Street) but you see the whole castle from there. Just have a good zoom lens with you… Or, from the Allan Ramsay statue at the other end of the Gardens, which is closer, but lower down than Calton.
