A beautiful historic fortress right by the old Venetian harbor of Heraklion. The view of the sea, the harbor, the yachts and the city is very impressive, especially on a sunny day. It is a great place for a relaxed walk and for taking photos. The area around the fortress is easy to reach from the city center, and the waterfront atmosphere is very nice. It can be quite windy and very bright, so sunglasses and sunscreen are useful. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Heraklion.
