★★★★★a year agoGreat place to visit! The exhibition inside is amazing, really insightful to the ways of life in the romantic era, with all sorts of diverse exibits, from natural speciments, to clothing and from paintings to ceramics. The building itself is beautiful and one can spend hours in the surrounding garden with great view to the Douro river. The staff of the museum is also very kind and willing to guide you for the best experiences. The space also holds regular concerts which are really worth attending. The atmosphere is very inviting overall.

★★★★★a month agoA historical museum recreating the bourgeois domestic life and atmosphere of the Romantic era in 19th-century Porto. It is housed inside Quinta da Macieirinha, an 18th-century villa once owned by the Pinto Basto family, and opened as a museum in 1972. The estate gained particular historical significance in 1849, when Charles Albert of Sardinia, the abdicated King of Sardinia, lived here in exile and died on the property.
