This is a beautiful scenic spot where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Salzburg’s Old Town from above. It’s a fantastic place to take in the city’s historic rooftops, church spires, and the surrounding mountains all in one sweeping view. The location is very easy to reach from the Old Town — just a short walk away — making it a convenient stop even if you have limited time. Whether you’re visiting early in the morning or around sunset, the view is stunning and offers plenty of great photo opportunities. It’s a peaceful place to take a break from the busy streets below and appreciate the charm of Salzburg from a different perspective.

Phenomenal food! Such great flavour and very inventive. The other reviews were right about how great this restaurant is. My husband and I both loved it. Every item of food was delightful. I had the vegetarian menu and he had the Esszimmer menu with the pigeon. (If you are wondering what to wear the atmosphere and guest attire are somewhat casual. Don't wear a t-shirt but most everyone wore sneakers)

    Restaurant Esszimmer

Everything about this evening was exceptional — and I mean everything. We arrived in Salzburg in the early afternoon, and Esszimmer was our very first meal in Austria. It set a standard the rest of our trip will struggle to match. The quality is outstanding from the first bite to the last. Every dish was precise, deeply flavourful, and built so that the main ingredient stayed at the centre rather than disappearing under technique. Not one course fell below the one before it. This is cooking of a genuinely high order, and it is consistent across the entire menu. The service matches the kitchen completely. Anna was exceptional from beginning to end — attentive without ever hovering, warm, and genuinely invested in our evening rather than simply working it. But she was no exception: the entire staff was incredible. Every single person who came to our table brought the same care, the same warmth and the same attention to detail, and that kind of consistency across a whole team does not happen by accident. The wine pairing deserves its own mention — it was exceptional. Every glass was thoughtfully matched, several were genuine discoveries we would never have chosen ourselves, and the whole progression elevated the meal rather than simply accompanying it. Where the restaurant truly set itself apart was one specific thing. My partner eats gluten-free and dairy-free. Rather than removing components from a plate, the kitchen rebuilt the dishes so that her experience was identical to mine — same quality, same craft, same pleasure. No compromise, no lesser version. We ate side by side and she never once felt she was missing out. That takes a level of skill and attention very few kitchens possess. An outstanding restaurant in every respect. Thank you for the evening — we will be back.

A FOODIE‘S CHANCE ENCOUNTER OF A MOST SATISFYING COMFORT LUNCHEON in Salzburg 🤗🤗🤗 when our intended destination turned out closed. It’s a very pleasant pub/restaurant, which looks very popular to locals. The gentleman maitre’d (or lead waiter?) seated us quickly. The Menu is printed in both Deutsche and English. Short and sweet, the waiter is very good at personal suggestions 👍👍👍. The menu looks classic Austrian home cooking: soups, roasts, and stews… perfect on cold Salzburg spring day. We enjoyed everything including the Artesanal beer🍻🍻🍻. The stars of luncheon are: 🤗🤗🤗 the Cream of Garlic Soup: an astoundingly mellow flavor of garlic with somehow silky texture of the cream base. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 the Roast Pork with sauerkraut and dumpling: Generous portion of lean juicy pork, crisp lightly tangy sauerkraut and a SURPRISINGLY flavorful bread dumpling… Married together with a very lovely silken sauce… WOW. 🤗🤗🤗 the Beef Goulash is quite comforting. Fraying slow-braised beef, so different from its more familiar Hungarian cousin. 🍰🍰🍰 the Apple Strudel is so very light yet textural. With the simple vanilla ice cream, the warmth of the strudel is great finish to the luncheon. The restaurant atmosphere is vibrant. The interior wooden walls and ceiling gives the feel of a cabin in woods 👏👏👏. SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING. The waiter is attentive without being obliging. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
