Dominating the garden area of Piazza Bra, the Equestrian Statue of Vittorio Emanuele II is hard to miss. While the Roman Arena commands the most attention in this square, this statue is the anchor of the 19th-century side of Verona's history. Sculpted by Ambrogio Borghi and inaugurated in 1883, the bronze work is incredibly detailed. The King is depicted in full military regalia, and if you look closely at the base, you can see bronze reliefs depicting the entry of Italian troops into the city.

The king and founder of Italy. Magnificent sculptures stand beside the park and countless pedestrians look up.
