★★★★★2 years agoOn a recent visit in late March 24 it was very quite and plenty of time to admire the views and architecture of this wonderful place. Bruges is certainly the Jewel in Belgium's crown. This statue is of Jan van Eyck. He was a pioneer in use of oil paint, very detailed and realistic work. The square is surrounded by many eateries and there are plenty of lanes and avenues to explore at your leisure. Im sure in the height of summer there are stalls, tables and chairs everywhere and very busy so i was fortunate to go on a quite day. There is a bus stop right next to the statue and a water fountain for free water.
