My now-fiance proposed to me here and it was so beautiful! Serene and fairly quiet with minimal foot traffic and a beautiful stream along the walk way.

Honestly, this is one of my favourite pieces of Edinburgh. There's a mineral spring here that flows into the river which was once regarded as having healing properties. The temple houses a pump room underneath, with a beautiful ornate mosaic ceiling that you wouldn't believe was down there, hidden directly under the statue of the goddess Hygieia. It isn't open to the public but you can google photos of it. Truly amazing and a must visit.
