What couples say about Santorini

Real Google reviews that mention anniversaries, proposals, honeymoons, and date nights — not invented testimonials.

Came here twice as it's a very busy place with lots of walking. We split our 1st day with a town walk, cable car ride down to the old port which is 10e each, a bar visit which we found that is behind the main restaurants and then a donkey trek back up also 10e each. The main reason for that was when you get 3 cruise ships every day the place buzzes with hundreds of people and they queue for the cable car so our option was the ten minute donkey ride instead of waiting an hour for the cable ride. After sussing the best place to be for the sunset we decided to make it another afternoon visit as the ships start to depart and gets a bit quieter. Plenty to do before hand though.

Stunning views! Took off from our hotel to walk towards Oia but I gave up after 1 hour (halfway), would have completed it if the weather wasn’t that hot 🥵 Despite the heat, it was an amazing slow walk with my husband and we’re so immersed with the view of the Caldera Coast and what’s going on along the route. Note : it’s a lot of steps climbing and uphill walking on uneven surfaces, if you have knee problems like me, you may start to feel abit uncomfortable after a while but don’t let this stop you from exploring this area, go slow, bring water, take many stops (enjoy the view)🙂 and wear a good pair of sport shoes. It’s really worth the walk.

Santorini is renowned for its dramatic scenery and unforgettable sunsets, attracting visitors from around the world to experience one of Greece's most celebrated destinations. We joined the crowds in Oia to watch the sunset, and it did not disappoint. Santorini's iconic whitewashed buildings and blue-domed roofs, we watched as the sky transformed into brilliant shades of gold, orange, and pink, casting a warm glow across the cliffs and sea. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and became one of the most memorable highlights.

    3 Domes Viewpoint

I spent 50 minutes standing in line (in May!) like a well-trained farm animal just to take the exact same photo as everyone else on the island. Also took some pictures of me and my girlfriend which, after all that waiting, turned out aggressively mediocre - not because of us of course. The place is packed with young wannabe influencers doing full-scale photoshoots — front poses, back poses, side poses, upside-down poses, hair flips, walking shots, fake candid laughing shots… all desperately chasing those 143 likes that will finally make them feel important for 6 minutes. And yet… 5 stars. Because honestly, it was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, and somehow that made it part of the Santorini experience. Never have I felt more like a sheep following the herd, and I respect the commitment from all of us involved. After all the view at the Three Domes Viewpoint in Oia is absolutely incredible. White buildings, blue domes, sunset — postcard material for sure. After all what wouldn’t one do for some likes?

Beautiful, secluded church overlooking Fira on the left and Oia on the right. Can imagine that it would be a great place for a sunset. Stumbled upon it by accident at the very end of the Skaros rock pathway. Went during the middle of they day and it was very hot, so bring water, a hat, and good shoes. There are two ways to reach this church from the ruins. 1. Straight forward, which takes you up some stairs to Skaros rock and then you have to descend some stairs later to the church. 2. Sharp left at the beginning of the ruins which takes you under the cliffs and directly to the church. If you are worried about falling rocks, I would go with path 1, but path 2 has less elevation change.

The best dome you can find in all santoriny, its like finding a hidden treasure behind the mountains 😍 + you can ring the bells😍 Hints: ✅ It is going to be a long hike, make sure to wear proper shoes, and go early morning or before sunset, else you will be sun burned. ✅the wind will be insane if you wanna have photos on rooftop ✅climbing the arches on the rooftop might be tricky, if you can have a small ladder or something like that, it would be helpful ✅On the way back you see a two way, chose the right one, it will go around the mountain and help you avoid all stairs and going ups and downs

Common romantic trip mistakes in Santorini

Ten traps that steal intimacy — and how to avoid them.

  1. 1. Overlooking Dinner Reservations

Many popular restaurants like Ambrosia require reservations weeks in advance, especially during peak season.

  2. 2. Ignoring Sunset Timing

Santorini sunsets are famous, but arriving late to spots like Oia can mean missing the view due to crowds.

  3. 3. Staying in Noisy Areas

Areas like Fira can be bustling; consider quieter neighborhoods like Imerovigli for a more romantic experience.

  4. 4. Underestimating Walk Distances

The Fira to Oia Walk is beautiful but can be lengthy; wear comfortable shoes and plan for breaks.

  5. 5. Choosing Budget Over Experience

While there are budget options, splurging on a romantic hotel like Canaves Oia can enhance your stay.

  6. 6. Missing Out on Local Experiences

Don’t just stick to the tourist spots; explore local tavernas like Taverna Katina for authentic dining.

  7. 7. Skipping the Beaches

Santorini's unique beaches, like Red Beach, offer a different experience; don’t miss them for just the caldera views.

  8. 8. Not Checking Weather

Santorini can be windy; check the forecast to plan your sunset and outdoor activities accordingly.

  9. 9. Rushing Through Sightseeing

Take your time to enjoy places like the Holy Church of Panagia Theoskepasti instead of rushing through.

  10. 10. Ignoring Local Transport Options

Public transport can be limited; consider renting a car or ATV for easier access to various attractions.
